My name is Cheryl Wiegand and I am the owner and pet stylist. I am a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, growing up in Bethlehem. After graduating high school, I attended Northampton County Area Community College with a major in commercial arts. I hold a Cosmetology license that I acquired in 1986 and worked in the industry for many years while my children were young. I continue to maintain a current license. After my children reached school age I entered the corporate world working for Prudential Investments in pension administration managing various aspects of the industry as well as personnel.
After 10 years of investment administration, the industry downsizing axe left me unemployed and looking for work. After that I remained in the corporate world for approximately 5 more years. Within that time, my personal interests and love for animals found me yearning for a more satisfying career. I began grooming my own two dogs through necessity while unemployed and found it thoroughly satisfying for my soul and spirit. My personal belief is that we should all live with the intent to make a difference through how we have lived, be it through our profession or our personal endeavors.
My cosmetology background provided me with the foundation to pursue my passion for grooming. I decided the time was right to follow my heart, and so Pride and Passion Grooming Shoppe was born. I have attended instructional classes with Cindy's Canine Companions in Rehersburg, Pennsylvania and received a certificate stating my completion of the course. Although Pennsylvania currently does not require state licensing for groomers, I feel my cosmetology license will be beneficial should the state change it's requirements in the future. I have also attended a Pet First Aid course offered by the Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley and am a member of the National Dog Groomer's Association of America, Inc. I attend seminars and conferences annually to continue my growth in the pet grooming industry. I feel that it helps me bring new ideas and products to my customers.
